Following the success of the Autumn Clean Up Campaign which took place in November 2015 and which involved 170 volunteers stepping forward to help improve their local community, the South Tyneside Council for Voluntary Service is pleased to announce that it is working with Groundwork South Tyneside and South Tyneside Homes to co-ordinate a Spring Clean Up campaign during May 2016. This will again involve encouraging local groups and volunteers to come forward and help clean up parks and other green spaces, making South Tyneside a better place to live.
Charities and groups have been asked to organise a suitable activity in their local area during May with support and equipment being provided by South Tyneside Homes and Groundwork South Tyneside. However we are also looking for community-minded individuals who would be willing to give up a few hours of their time and help make the campaign a success.
Activities for volunteers could involve helping out with a litter pick, conservation work or just generally tidying up a local green space. Anyone can help out and you do not need to have any previous experience as support and equipment will be provided. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to help us make South Tyneside a cleaner and more attractive space to live.
If you are interested in taking part and helping to make your community a better place to live then please contact either:
